Morlock is a mage of the Seers of the Moonstone living on the sixth level of the Abyss. He appears in Ultima Underworld and is the keeper of the Book of Honesty.
Description[edit]
When the Avatar encountered Morlock the mage expressed a non sequitur expectation that the hero have a delivery for him. Once contacting Bronus, the Avatar gave Morlock the book received from the other mage. Morlock strangely congratulated the Avatar on slaying an eight-headed fire hydra, something on which the Avatar corrected the mage. Morlock thus revealed that it had been the second part of the test of Honesty, a test the Avatar had passed, and he felt that the hero thus deserved the Book of Honesty. His hints about a hourglass and a key proved to be a code for rooms shaped like that.
Later, Garamon rescued him when the volcano erupted.

Trivia[edit]
- If the Avatar dishonestly claims to have slain a hydra, Morlock will then deceive the Avatar as to the whereabouts of the Book.
- It is possible that Morlock is or was at one time intended to be the guildmaster of the Seers of the Moonstone. This comes from a summoned mage who spouts several random lines, including this one: "I have no time for thee. Speak to Morlock, the Guildmaster."
