Martian Dreams map of Mars
Included with Martian Dreams was this paper map, showing the planet of Mars.
Description[edit]
Not only are all the important regions of Mars – like cities, geographic features and the landing sites – on the map, it also shows all of the channels and where they lead to. The map itself has no decorations, only the border does, showing illustrations from the manual (and from the clue book) in color. Martian Dreams is known to have a very large world, and a map greatly aids the player's progress.
Other Releases of the Map[edit]
The map included with the Taiwanese and Korean versions of the game is more glossy than the original map, but otherwise the same, though both moved the Origin logo and put a different logo in the original place. The Taiwanese map has several things translated as well.
The Production Art[edit]
A version of the map from the middle of game production did turn up. The map is interesting as during the time of production it was made, it clearly was planned that the map would be drawn by Cooter McGee in a much more rough style – like his map to the motherlode. Obviously, plans changed some time after this production art was created and the map got altered accordingly for the final product.
Alternate Maps[edit]
Trivia[edit]
- The map is not perfect, some places like the Trading Post and the Abandoned City are left out, most likely to encourage exploration.
