Korick is the blacksmith of Tenebrae. He appears in Ultima VIII.
Description[edit]
Korick was a hard-working man who took great pleasure in the artistry of his craft, and who seemed uniquely content with his lot in life. Unbeknownst to any who knew him, he covertly practiced the faith of the ancient Zealans – a fact he kept closely hidden until the death of Mordea, whereupon he would admit his devotion to the old gods should the Avatar pry.[1]
He could routinely be found in and around his shop in west Tenebrae – forging weapons and armour of steel and crafting Theurgy foci out of silver.
Prices in Ultima VIII are as follows:
- Korick can and will make duplicate foci if the player does not keep book of the already created foci and orders one twice. Due to the finite amount of silver ore available this would result in a plotstopper, since the Avatar needs one of each focus to progress.
- An option to forge weapons/gear with the help of Korick appears in the usecode, but not available in the release version.
- In the usecode an optional reply to question where the Avatar is from appears, called Martin's Meadow. Korick doesn't believe this reply and accuses Avatar being a liar.
