Halward is a miller in Paws in Ultima V: Lazarus.
Halward spoke little of his profession beyond mentioning that he ground the wheat grown locally into flour at his mill, although he did speak more extensively about the townspeople and the village Paws, saying the the cats which inhabited the village had been there since before the town had even been founded. Selling his wares extensively, he was familiar with all the citizens of Paws whom bought flour, saying Dr. Cat had never changed for as long as he had known him, believing him to be a strange individual with an odd name. Of Ferru, he said the man was all puffed up now that the Oppression began to favor his horses, and stated the man couldn't understand why Lorien didn't fawn all over him with his new found success. Halward knew of Lorien's inn and her family's past connection with smuggling, but recommended the hero not bring up the subject in her presence. The miller also gossiped about Danfits, saying the new arrival was a close-mouthed individual who had recently shown up in town with large sums of cash. He knew little of the new arrival, but suggested Fagles of Britain could tell more about the quiet man. [1]
Halward spoke of the Fens of the Dead, saying he had heard stories of a great tentacled monster appearing in the swamps to the south, believing the Fens to be an area of death.
