Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, this proud owner of Wishing Well Horses told the hero that his family had been involved with horses for generations, and that the name of his stables came from a nearby well.[1] He felt that his horses were inferior to none, and that the Oppression soldiers who frequented his stables could vouch for their quality. He readily talked about the breeds he sold, and even admitted to occasionally dealing in Valorian Warhorses. When pressed more about the Oppression, he felt that they were a force of good for Britannia, enforcing Virtue and safety across the land, and that The Inquisitor was doing an excellent job routing out criminals. He had no horses for sale due to the demand from the Oppression, and Dr. Cat reported that the young man had begun to work for the Oppression, providing information for their cause.[2]

Ferru spoke highly of the village of Paws, and especially the women, feeling that Lorien would inevitably fall in love with him because he was handsome and successful, even though she had not yet returned his affections. If the Avatar reported to Ferru that Lorien spurned his affections because she was intimidated by his association with the Oppression, and was further afraid he would report her to the Inquisitor if she refused him,[3] Ferru became ashamed, stating that he was an honest man who would never become vengeful for merely having his romantic interests unrequited.

Suspecting Dr. Cat's serving maid Kitten was involved with the Resistance, Ferru reported her actions to the Oppression, figuring she would merely be jailed. After the hero located Kitten's broach within Dungeon Wrong, and reported her fate to Dr. Cat, Ferru was horrified to learn that his actions had led to the young girl's torture and death.

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

This is an Ultima 6 Project-related NPC article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima VI or other Ultima games.

In The Ultima 6 Project, Dr. Cat mentioned that shortly after Lord British’s return from the Underworld, Ferru disappeared never to be seen again. The innkeeper suspected that another member of the Oppression had killed Ferru to ensure he did not leak information about past Oppression activities.
