Fujitsu
Fujitsu Ltd. is one of the biggest electronics manufacturers in Japan and also the developer and publisher of multiple Ultima game ports in Japan.
History with Ultima[edit]
In 1989 Fujitsu had developed the at the time highly powerful FM Towns computer, a piece of hardware which could run very advanced computer games for the time. Soon enough Origin, already a presence in the Japanese market thanks to their partnership with PonyCanyon, aimed for ports of Ultima games on that computer system as well. However, Fujitsu, due to their size and power, very much mandated that Origin had to leave publishing (and a huge chunk of the game development) to them.
After the takeover of Origin by Electronic Arts in late 1992, the bargaining power of this much bigger company meant, that Fujitsu after the contract renewal negotiations no longer was involved in development and publishing of the further ports for the FM Towns (both Ultima Underworld games).
