This article is about an NPC in Ultima VII Part Two. For the NPC in Ultima V: Lazarus, see Drusilla (Lazarus).

Drusilla is one of three suspicious female monks encountered by the Avatar in the era of Serpent's Fang (the other two being Solaria and Rieya). She can be found in Ultima VII Part Two offering 'helpful' advice to the Avatar outside Issik's Maze.

Description[edit]

She did arrive with her sisters some time prior to the Avatar. While they did keep away from the fortress itself, their presence and hostility to Ophidian culture did agitate the garrison. However, a treaty was made, in that they would keep out any unwanted elements trying to enter the vicinity of the fortress, and in turn they could stay. The uneasy peace held for the time being.

Drusilla was very annoyed when the Avatar appeared, having become bored from waiting and did not like any jokes about her age. During conversation Drusilla called the Avatar a pawn of prophecy, making it clear that she thought little of the Ophidians, instead following a Guide, but was unwilling to go into detail. She tried to dissuade the Avatar from entering the maze, but nonetheless gave three hints about it: that one can reset the maze by killing oneself in the corner fires, that sometimes certain rooms have to be traversed twice and that mastering a level would open it up permanently.

After the Avatar managed to gain the Silver Seed, Drusilla and her sisters appeared to stop them. Thanks to Solaria's babbling, it was revealed they were actually working for the Guardian, and have been sent by him to prevent the Avatar from restoring the Tree of Balance. Drusilla, along with her sisters, was killed by the Avatar and party when they attempted to stop this restoration.

Lore[edit]

Occasionally I overhear conversations between the warriors here in Seriss. They often mention the names of three sorceresses, members of the Dark Monks — Rieya, Solaria and Drusilla. From the information available to me at this point, I must assume that these monks have great power.

They are not fond of the Order Forces; they believe in their own distinct prophecies. These monks speak some drivel about destroying the “Pawn of Prophecy.” They believe their victim will arrive here through the powers of the Amulet of Balance. I don’t know what to make of all their prattle. I don’t think they are talking about our hero, the Champion of Balance. If he ever arrives here, I will give him the magic Key Ring as I have been ordered by thee, Calithiss, revered Order Hierophant.

The three monks haven’t caused the keep any trouble so far; therefore, I shall allow them to remain in this area. Although I don’t trust them under any circumstances, a treaty has been signed — they may each stay at the entrance of a different dungeon, as long as they repulse any interlopers seeking that route into Seriss. I haven’t been here long enough to know them well, but I plan on gathering more material for my next report to thee.

Trivia[edit]

  • She is the only monk of the trio whose advice is easy to interpret correctly. In fact, the advices from Rieya and Solaria are so hard to understand that they are often dismissed as lies.
