Cold-fire is a form of magical fire found on Serpent Isle.
Description[edit]
Due to the differences in the magical ether and the disturbances caused by the continuing imbalance, the magic of the Serpent Isle differs from other forms of magic in that normal fire is mostly replaced by the blue cold-fire. This also means that the magic word of power "Flam" for fire is here often replaced by "Frio", standing for coldness. The female mage, Frigidazzi of Moonshade, whose character is themed around the cold, is particularly adept at casting cold-fire spells, having travelled and studied in the icy northern parts of the continent.
In terms of damage however, cold-fire is no different to normal fire.

I expect the colder climate has much to do with this difference, as freezing temperatures are far more hazardous here than fire is. Trivia[edit]
- Despite the spells Fire Ring and Fire Field using cold-fire, they, unlike the spell Cold Strike, are shown with normal red fire on scrolls and in the spellbook. This was corrected in the translation patch Ultima VII Part Two auf Deutsch.
