Andral is a Knight and sculptor in the city of Monitor on the Serpent Isle. He appears in Ultima VII Part Two.
Description[edit]
Andral was a confirmed Monitorian Knight of the Leopard Command, but he admitted to not being much of a warrior, preferring his artistry to the glories of the List Field, which he shunned for fear of injuring his hand and thereby losing his craft. He found a niche for himself sculpting commissioned monuments to various Knights in honor of their deeds,[1] and additionally fashioned the urns used by in Monitor's cremation rites for the dead.[2] His shop could be found on Town Hall Road, some distance from his apartment on Pedigar Street.
Atypical as a Monitorian in his un-warlike temperament, Andral had few close associates, although he had been involved with the tavernkeeper, Lucilla, at some point before the Avatar's arrival on Serpent Isle. Their relationship failed, however, owing to his prioritization of his work.[3][4] Shortly before the Avatar's coming, he also made the acquaintance of Batlin and his entourage. While he was impressed with Brunt's statuesque physique, he thought little of the company, and after they left for Fawn, he eventually came to realize that the group had absconded with one of his family heirlooms: a sinister-looking carved serpent of black stone.[5]
Like the great bulk of Monitorians, Andral was violently slain when the Bane of Wantonness, possessing the body of the knight Dupre, led an army of conquering goblins and wild beasts to lay waste to the city.
Trivia[edit]
- A search of Andral's apartment will turn up 11 monetari.
- Should the Avatar attempt to commission a statue, Andral will indicate that he is already busy with a likeness of Luther, and should the hero stop by Andral's shop at certain times of the day, Luther may be found posing for this monument.[6]
- If the Avatar is female, Andral will say more if asked about Fawn, remarking that the Avatar would like Fawn, as women like her are highly regarded in that town, mentioning Lady Yelinda and Kylista in the process.
