Talk:Ultima IV monster data

Poly, you have all the tiles sitting around? My extreme lack of desire to make those tiles myself is what caused me to stall. :P Dungy 15:50, 3 April 2011 (PDT)

Basically, yeah, I do. Just have to resize them. I had them (nearly) done for an html project that I never finished, so the Codex benefits from my procrastination. :) --polygoncount (Polygon Dragon -==(UDIC)==-) 17:25, 5 April 2011 (PDT)

"Finished?" No Gazer? --polygoncount (Polygon Dragon -==(UDIC)==-) 20:16, 6 April 2011 (PDT)

Must have missed him. I'll be on the lookout for him tonight after work. Dungy 03:04, 7 April 2011 (PDT)

Updated Monsters of Ultima IV?[edit]

What happend to them? They seems to be missing. Edit: 1)Does not Bestiary Data look better or not? 2) Is there enough information about the monsters from Ultima I, II, V? They're missing. --Arthgon 02:36, 28 February 2013 (PST)

Nothing happened to them. The contributor who was creating these files and adding them to the wiki moved on to other things, so unfortunately this page was never finished. As for Ultima I, II, V, I'm not sure if anyone has sufficiently reverse engineered those games to know the monster stats. Is this information available anywhere? Basically, we need help. Dungy 03:01, 28 February 2013 (PST)
There has got to be a way to get the Monster Data from these games. What for kind of file is it in? .DATA, .Proto etc? It almost look like binaries or something. Hex editor? --Arthgon 04:45, 28 February 2013 (PST)
I don't know much about that. The technical files would know more than me. I will finish the animations over the next few days, though. They've been bothering me for awhile. Dungy 05:32, 28 February 2013 (PST)
Which file was used with Ultima IV? MONSTERS.SAV? Just using the answer to know where to look. I will give it a try later. Also for Ultima Underworld I for its creatures, armour, weapons. UWII for armour and weapons. --Arthgon 07:53, 28 February 2013 (PST)
I was looking through the technical details we have here on the wiki, but they don't tell much about monster data in Ultima V. We don't even have details on Ultima I and II, unfortunately. I'm not sure who can help you. Dungy 17:53, 28 February 2013 (PST)

Twister Animated .gif Missing[edit]

What happened to make it a redlink on this list (both versions)? I think I uploaded the gif image myself back in the day, but I'm not sure I still have it available. polygoncount (Polygon Dragon -==(UDIC)==-)

Looking at your contributions on 23/24 April 2011, which is when you uploaded those others, there's nothing that looks like it could be a twister. Also, doing a file search for "*twister*" gives no joy. This is consistent with a file deletion. Sorry, but that might just be what happened.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 14:16, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
I took Uniblab's image block and made an animated twister and a speed I thought looked good. I think the delay in the game was random. The upgraded twister will have to be another day.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 07:35, 11 July 2022 (MDT)

Updated Lich Graphics[edit]

Uniblab's Shapes.png
I updated my Sprites.Ega file because the Lich looks like a giant, mutant turnip. I'd offer it, but this wiki won't let me upload my modified Shapes.Ega. Interested parties can reach me via talk. Uniblab (talk) 03:25, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

What happens when you try?
The wiki says I can only upload PNG's and JPEG's and such. I stuffed it into a Zip (which seems silly, since it was only 32KB but sure now it's 8KB) and that worked just fine. Unfortunately I'm rather stupid, and accidentally uploaded it as File:SHAPES.zip, rather than something sensible like "File:Uniblab's Lich Shapes.ega.zip", so now I need to consult an admin or sr editor on how to rename the danged thing. It looks like today is my turn to be stupid. Uniblab (talk) 04:34, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
So this is your own mod you made for the liche tile? We don't have a policy on this, but my feeling is that the tile should be authentic instead of what just looks better. Having said that, though, I think there could be a better explanation of what "Image" and "Update" mean. My best guess is that they are the PC version's and Ultima IV Upgrade Patch's respectively. But that's only guessing.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 14:01, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
By "Image" I mean the binary data in Shapes.Ega. By "Update" I mean changed. Consider the popular user-made VGA upgrade. In that mod, 100% of the graphics are created from whole cloth. I prefer the EGA graphics over the VGA graphics but, as I said, the Lich looks like some sort of giant, mutant turnip, so I replaced the data to make it look like a skeleton wearing a crown, wielding a staff, with occasional flashes of blue magic on one of his fists. I'd like to think it's pretty damned bad ass. Uniblab (talk) 04:34, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Here is how it appears in-game magnified from 16x16 to 64x64 for your viewing pleasure: Uniblab's New Ultima IV Lich.gif Uniblab (talk) 04:49, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
