Samhayne is the de facto mayor of Buccaneer's Den in Ultima IX. Apart from his secret daughter, Raven, little is known about him.
Description[edit]
He gave the Avatar the task of clearing the seaways in exchange for the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom. However, the Avatar was double-crossed and arrested by Blackthorn. Samhayne however was innocent in that matter, and later helped the Avatar indirectly.[1]
The Guardian kidnapped and killed him as he stood before the Avatar at Terfin. Samhayne told the Avatar about Raven's secret with his last breaths.
Trivia[edit]
- Samhayne originally had a more significant role in the Bob White plot, an early incarnation of the story for Ultima IX. In it, he is a prominent figure responsible for attempts to undermine Britannia's factional conflict through his guild, and is instrumental in the Avatar's effort to uncover the deception at the root of the impending civil war. Samhayne also later supplies the naval fleet for the final battle against the Guardian's forces and presumably survives with the other refugees on Skara Brae.
