Morwin and Daglar is a duo of thieves who pulled off an unbelievable heist some time prior to Ultima VI.

Description[edit]

Some time before Ultima VI, the bard Mandrake came into contact with these two thieves after they had just pulled off an unbelievable heist: breaking into the Hall of Knowledge in the Realm of the Gargoyles. During their break-in they stole the Vortex Cube and caused the gargoyle lens to shatter. They decided to use Mandrake as a disposable meat shield against the dangers of dungeon Hythloth during the return to Britannia. Thankfully, Mandrake survived that experience.

Morwin and Daglar then traveled to Stonegate to store their loot, where their trail ends. Considering that Papa, a massive cyclops, had taken possession of the Vortex Cube by the time the Avatar arrived at Stonegate, it is much likely that Morwin and Daglar had disturbed the new inhabitants of Stonegate, which ended badly for them.

Lore[edit]

Hythloth — that's an ugly word, almost as ugly as the memories it brings back for me. when I was escaping from the gargoyles, I bumped into a pair of rogues who'd just looted one of those big pyramids they have down there. Morwin and Daglar, they called themselves. Making our escape together seemed like the obvious thing to do. If I'd have known them better, though, I'd have run back the way I came and taken my chances with the gargoyles...

Once we managed to sneak into Hythloth, they showed their true faces. They decided I should walk in front the whole way, in case of traps, and they backed up the notion with drawn swords. Lucky for me there were no traps down there. What's worse, though, they also thought it best that they should lighten my load by about the weight of my wineskin, the contents of which they disposed between them — not even a drop for me.
Truth be told, I don't remember many details of the dismal caverns we climbed through. Between the bickering of my "companions," and running from vile beasts, I was pretty distracted.
