I was recently in contact with Cear Dragon over at Ultima VI Online. I noticed that his small wiki Ultima VI Online Wiki devoted to Ultima VI Online had been largely overrun by spammers. I contacted him regarding whether he would be interested in joining with us over at the Codex of Ultima Wisdom, and he seemed quite interested. So I'm proposing bringing the non-spam pages over at his wiki to the Codex, and then redirecting the Ultima VI Online Codex permanently to here, thus making the Codex of Ultima Wisdom the wiki responsible for all things Ultima VI Online.

How I'd propose we do this, is turn the current Ultima VI Online page into a merger between the current page and the current main page of the wiki. We could create a template that clearly labeled and categorized all pages that were Ultima VI Online specific, and this template could also serve as a nav template for Ultima VI Online pages. All Ultima VI Online pages would be titled "(U6O)-X", or "X-(U6O)", where X represents the page name.

Advantages:

  • More new editors
  • More new page views (They have over 3,000 views of their main page over the last 2 months)

Disadvantages:

  • Organization (This should be easily surmountable if we plan ahead)

I don't see why we wouldn't want to do this. I feel like The Codex should be the end-all-be-all of collective Ultima knowledge on the internet, so this is another logical step as far as I'm concerned. :) --polygoncount (Polygon Dragon -==(UDIC)==-) 22:13, 1 February 2011 (PST)

Hey guys, Cear Dragon here from Ultima VI Online. If you all can find a sufficient way to host our wiki's information, and not have it lost or just placed about randomly on this wiki, then we are more than all for it. I originally installed the wiki on my site just to see what would happen, as I have little to no experience with the wiki format of doing things. I had no idea people would come to place to much information there. I absolutely love this wiki and would be honored to have U6O game info kept here. While I have little time to mess with the Wiki while developing Ultima VI Online, I know that if this goes through I can call on our player base to help transfer the information. I would love to get free of the spam and misinformation on both sites. With that said I'm going to correct the false ultima six online youtube video on this wiki and get back to programming in U6O. Talk to you all soon!
To keep your pages separate and distinct, we'll have to design a nice template that can be used to clearly label all of your pages. This template can also be used to redirect users to different pages of the Ultima VI Online section of the wiki. I can start this process, but I'll admit I'm not much of a graphical artist. As your wiki grows, we can also create a subsection for Ultima VI Online on our left nav-bar, that way, users of the wiki will always have quick access to the Ultima VI Online wiki. I think the one advantage of having your wiki merge with ours, is it would allow you to quickly link to the substantial amount of Ultima VI information already available here, like bestiary, images, maps, etc. Dungy 14:45, 2 February 2011 (PST)
I created a quick template in about 2 minutes. Obviously, that can be greatly expanded in graphic quality, size, and number of links. Something like that could easily be added to the top or bottom of every page, to distinguish it from the rest of the wiki. You'll notice it also automatically categorizes every page as Ultima VI Online. Dungy 14:52, 2 February 2011 (PST)
Just trying to create a bit of a proof of concept. I'm not the most wiki-savvy guy here, so it's a work in progress. Dungy 16:07, 2 February 2011 (PST)
We could even add a new namespace if we want a good strong separation. -- Fenyx4 17:34, 3 February 2011 (PST)

Hey guys sorry its been so long. I had a head aches worth of bugs to fix in my game. I'll be keeping an eye open here.
What do you all think? Should we just start copy/pasting my articles here and set up the direct link?
Sorry, I completely missed your response to this post somehow. I've sent you a new message privately, but yeah, unless someone has objections, I'd suggest you start moving information over and set up a direct link. We'd love to have you over here. Dungy 15:34, 16 March 2011 (PDT)
