Spelling[edit]
I've been changing the spelling on U9 articles, because the American spelling ("armor") appears throughout the transcript, so I'm confident I'm on the right track there, but there any reason why the British should be anywhere, especially as the name for this category? There are exceptions, but usually things in Britannia are spelled American. The Ultra-Mind 09:48, 26 November 2012 (PST)

- Still, that doesn't change my previous position. I think we should have one spelling throughout the wiki. If we have to, we can use redirects for page names. But for the sake of internal wiki consistency, we need one. Like pages for plate armour or chain armour. That armour could be found in all games. What spelling should we use? - IMO, for that case, you go with what predominates excepting proper names. Artifact Armor is actually more of a special case as it is more of a title and of course it only appears in Ultima IX. I think that the spelling policy could use a clarification such as "if there is a contradiction, spell it how it is spelled in-game or if the article spans several games, go with what predominates". -- Iceblade 13:13, 17 January 2013 (PST)

I used to take for granted that there was only one kind of consistency, but now I see that that there's consistency w/the wiki and consistency w/Ultima and no one can serve two masters. A while ago I changed "Pikeman" to "pikeman" even though the transcript on which the text was based has "Pikeman". I did this because I wasn't making a quote, we decided that professions should be common nouns and "Pikeman" is wrong by any standard, especially in that context. So I still think I did the right thing, but it was a judgment call.
I tend to agree w/Ice here, because I think he's addressing armour named with proper nouns. But we can also get ourselves into other problems, like if there's an article which covers armour from various games then you could have "armour" and "armor" in the same text--maybe even the same sentence! When I think about it, there are probably some off-wiki standards on how to approach this. The Ultra-Mind 14:21, 17 January 2013 (PST)
