Wyburn is the leader of a militia group in The Ultima 6 Project.
Description[edit]
A retired soldier from Lord British's service, Wyburn was leading a milita group consisting of Marcus, Oran, and Razo, patrolling the area of Britain, Cove and Minoc, watching out for gargoyles. His group was busy with getting supplies from the fisherman Pete in Cove, when they heard of the Avatar's group being ambushed in the Temple of Virtue and came to the rescue by breaking open the magically locked doors, preventing the Avatar from being kidnapped a second time. The party felt it better to not mention the usage of an Orb of the Moons by the gargoyles to him, but Wyburn later noted that the gargoyles had been particularly determined to kidnap the Avatar.
Wyburn could later be found on his usual patrols, and it was possible to give him greetings from Thonyn, the leader of a southern militia group, who was old buddies with Wyburn. Wyburn told the hero to return the greetings to Thonyn, mentioning to tell his friend he still owes him a drink, a reference to the two of them having been drinking at the pub when originally agreeing to reenlist together. Wyburn told the hero he had instantly recognized them from Woodroffe's painting in Lord British's castle, having twice had the honor of being directly summoned by his liege. After his years of service, he had retired to Serpent's Hold, but had offered to serve again when the call for soldiers reached his new home.
Wyburn noted that Marcus was exceedingly shy, especially around women, but Oran was helping him overcome this. The two especially enjoyed clearing the area around the Kafiristan Pass towards Minoc of boulders and other debris, due to their mutual love of using powder kegs. Wyburn was impressed by Oran, better known as Skeet's, speed and skill with a blade, and how he wore his scars with pride, telling the hero to ask Oran about his unusual view on the gargoyles. The militia leader praised the New Magincian Razo's tracking abilities, even though being a ranger was not his original vocation.
