Windfer is a farmer and druid in Paws in Ultima V: Lazarus.

Windfer introduced himself as a druid, and said as such it was his job to study nature, but since that did little to put a roof over his head, he also made money through farming and fletching. The druid was fond of Paws, saying it was much like Yew of his youth, albeit with more swamp, smugglers, and cats. Gladdened by the respect the people of Paws show nature due to Dr. Cat's influence, Windfer believed Dr. Cat missed his true calling by becoming an innkeeper. Windfer spoke of the swamps as a place of life, with numerous ferns, insects, and birds, although, the Fens of the Dead seemed to have a certain evil that emanated from them. Windfer further noted that there were not so many smugglers any more, but that there were certain speech similarities between Paws and Buccaneer's Den.[1]

The Dark Reaper

He was currently in Paws to study the Fens of the Dead, noting that the corruption from that foul place had been spreading north to Paws, and if Jaana were in the Avatar's party, she would notice that there was blight on his crop, which Windfer attributed to this spreading corruption[2]. Windfer tasked the Avatar with traveling to the the Fens and confronting whatever darkness had taken residence there, offering to reward the Avatar should the hero return with proof of its destruction.

Windfer had not returned to his home of Yew for many years, and wished to know how things currently fared in the city of Justice. If the Avatar reported things went badly, Windfer remarked that surely the Druidic Court would oppose Blackthorn's changes, not realizing the Council had been disbanded. When Windfer realized that Justice was now controlled by Judge Dryden, who cared little for Love, he decided it was time to start actively working against the Oppression, telling the hero to speak to Dr. Cat.

Should the Avatar head into the Fens and slay the Dark Reaper, returning its heart to Windfer, the druid would reward the hero with his magical sword.
