White is a gallant fighter who could be found in Skara Brae during Ultima IV.

Description[edit]

White could be found alongside, Carlyle, Dickens and Shamino near the Ankh of Spirituality. He claimed to be dedicated to the pursuit of dangerous quests, living life as fully as he could in the present without fear of the future. He would ask if the Stranger were fearless in all things, and would be scornful and dismissive of a foolish claim to having never been afraid.[1]

Trivia[edit]

NES remake
  • Answering White's question "Art thou fearless in all things?" affirmatively will cost the player five points of Humility. Answering it negatively will result in a gain of five points of Humility.
  • White takes his name from the activist and journalist William Allen White, an advocate of small town community values and an early leader of the Progressive movement who railed strongly against effects of corporate corruption with regards to the middle class. The Ultima character quotes one of White's well loved aphorisms: "I am not afraid of tomorrow; I have seen yesterday and I love today".
  • In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), White can be identified as a man in a nearby location. This character was removed in the English localization.
