Timrod is a thin fighter living in Jhelom during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
A valiant fighter, Timrod would tell the Stranger that no holier ground existed than that where defeated Valor lay, and exhorted the hero to be brave. Should the adventurer claim to already be brave, the warrior would offer congratulations, as well as the assurance "Fortune helps the brave!" If admitting to lacking in bravery, Timrod would dismiss the hero as a coward.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- Timrod takes his name from Henry Timrod a celebrated American poet often considered the poet laureate of the American Confederacy. His words, "There is no holier spot of ground than where defeated valor lies," comes from the poem Ode: Sung on the Occasion of Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead at Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston.
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), Timrod can be identified as the child near his original location. This character was removed in the English localization.
