Thevel is a seasoned fighter living in Britain during Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Thevel may be found at the Jolly Spirits pub. If asked about his profession, the warrior would explain that he was searching for the secret of the magic orbs, and would share with the Stranger that he had heard of a one-handed beggar in Serpent's Hold who knew their secrets.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the C64 version Thevel does not appear in Britain.
- In the supposed journal of the Avatar discovered by historians Robert de Main and Carlotta Stein, Thevel meets the Stranger when the inebriated hero bumps into him, and proceeds to ask and answer his own questions about the orbs, feeling that it is the Stranger who "hath a need to know." The hero, being rather drunk, acts somewhat incredulous at the information, exclaiming, "What is this a Dashiell Hammett mystery?" at the mention of the one-handed beggar.[2]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), Thevel can be identified with the fighter in the same location. This character was removed in the English localization.
