The Checquered Cork is a tavern and inn in Minoc during Ultima VII. It is run by the ex-pirate Rutherford.
Description[edit]
Rutherford decided to turn towards the hospitality industry following an altercation with Hook which cost him an eye and an arm, opening his establishment. The tavern quickly became the center of life in Minoc – as in all earlier times Minoc was missing such a business for some unknown reason – with even the antisocial Karl using its services.

Lore[edit]
“ | Speaking of that wretched city, Buccaneer’s Den, Rutherford — he tends bar at the Checquered Cork — lost an arm in a scuffle with a pirate from Buccaneer’s Den some time ago. The ruffian went by the name of Hook. If thou dost meet this man in thy travels, avoid him, for Rutherford says he has never met a more violent and evil man in all of Britannia. – from Key to the Black Gate (Ultima VII)
