Teldrono is a Moonshadian magician who willingly took up residence in Serpent Isle's Mountains of Freedom for the purpose of obtaining the forbidden reagent stoneheart. He appears in Ultima VII Part Two.
Description[edit]
Little is known about Teldrono prior to his entry into Freedom, save that he, like Lorthondo, enjoyed a rapid rise to power and was interested in reagent-focused magical research.[1][2] According to his own accounts, he came to the dungeon in search of the mineral stoneheart and immediately began to investigate how it might be manufactured into bloodspawn. After succeeding in this undertaking, which apparently involved the death of numerous other mages, Teldrono began to turn his attentions towards the reagent's detrimental effects, noting that exposure to the substance drove him into disordered fits and mental instability. Realizing that he was losing himself in his investigations, he penned a rambling record of his experiences, exhorting his readers to pick up his inquiries where he had failed.[3]
While imprisoned in the Mountains of Freedom, the Avatar would encounter Teldrono but briefly, meeting him in his chambers and fighting him after he took on the form of a great bear. Upon being defeated, the mage fled, vowing that the hero would never have his precious reagents. The Avatar would not encounter Teldrono again thereafter, and unlike the more volatile Lorthondo, his ultimate fate is not known.
Lore[edit]
“ | The future doth not seem to be a long shining path. I even wonder how long I will remain sane. Thou art the reason why I wrote such a book, dear reader, it is for thee to read and for thee to take our place once I be gone. This powerful knowledge painfully extracted from the heart of darkness must outlive us. Thou shalt continue! – from Mine Experiments (Ultima VII Part Two)

Trivia[edit]
- Due to a bug caused by Ensorcio and Teldrono sharing the same shape, after Teldrono morphs into a chicken in the Mountains of Freedom, Ensorcio can sometimes become stuck in the form of a chicken for the rest of the game. However, this is the only effect on gameplay, and even in this state, the Avatar can converse with Ensorcio and acquire his spells.
