Talk:Zog
Should we merge Zog and Bones of Zog? They contain nearly identical information. Dungy 14:27, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, definitely.--Sega381 14:48, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Do we keep Zog or Bones of Zog? I'm leaning towards Zog. Dungy 15:06, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think it would make more sense to go with Zog. --Terilem 15:28, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
700,000 years?[edit]
Is there a source for the claim that Zog lived 700,000 years before the series? I've seen it pop up a couple of times on the wiki, but the only indication I've been able to find is Kytyn saying the bones of Zog are ten times older than any other fossil. I feel like I must be missing something with such a specific number. --Terilem (talk) 08:43, 16 March 2019 (MDT)
- check with the U7 Wisps. It might also be a fanon detail from one of the Dungeon Seige remakes. —Iceblade (talk) 11:58, 16 March 2019 (MDT)
- Yeah I checked the wisps in U6 and U7. In U6 they're vague about how much time elapsed post-Armageddon, and in U7 they don't talk about it at all. However, your point about the remakes made me think to check the Redemption timeline and yep, there it is. I've lost track of how often that thing has been the source of fanon masquerading as canon over the years. --Terilem (talk) 21:23, 16 March 2019 (MDT)
- It is actually a little hard to even call it fanon now given the collapse of that project. --Iceblade (talk) 21:31, 16 March 2019 (MDT)
- I don't know where that figure came from, but even the vague way it is written now, seems understated. Saying the oldest fossil in Britannia is measured in "millennia" give an in correct feel as to where he appears on the timeline.
- But it's looking like what we have about Zog is a large body of legend (or maybe leaked out from UO). There's very little we can know about him, but a lot more has been said.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:07, 11 November 2024 (MST)

A lot of connections are being made that I can't back up[edit]
From scraping transcripts, in-game books and clue books, the only stuff I've been able to confirm about Zog comes from U6:
- The wisps have dealt w/him before
- When the wisps discuss Zog they also present the Avatar w/Armageddon
- The wisps didn't hear from Britannia for some time after
- The wisps suggest that whatever they gave Zog may have been misused
- Zog's remains are the oldest of any
- Kytyn suggests Zog's remains might be evidence of Britannia's origins
Can we be sure what that what was given to Zog was Armageddon? Can we be sure that he used it? Can we be sure that it sterilized all of Britannia? Can we be sure Zog then died alone there? Do we know that he was a mage? All these things do fit the evidence, but if what's there now is appropriate, then I missed some text somewhere. Could a lot of this have come from Ultima Online?--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 12:38, 1 November 2024 (MDT)
