A little oversight in Iolo's dialogue: Talking about Gwenno while she's in the party gives a different reaction.--Tribun 17:54, 1 January 2011 (PST)

Hmm... I'm using the Ultima 6 editor to look at the actual sourcecode for the transcripts. I don't see that anywhere. Let me load up Ultima VI and check. Dungy 18:12, 1 January 2011 (PST)
Nope, doesn't look like it. Dungy 18:17, 1 January 2011 (PST)

I hate to be a downer, but is it practical to have entire transcripts on the wiki? They're going to be massive; with some 200 NPCs, the table of contents alone will be colossal after all is said and done. Plus, I'm reminded of The Ultra-Mind's "too much information" blog post a few months back... --Terilem 20:11, 1 January 2011 (PST)

Well, the table of contents will be removed, and we've been complaining for the last year that there's no good transcript available for Ultima VI, Savage Empire, or Martian Dreams, and we never did reach an agreement on Ultra-Mind's post. If a transcript shouldn't be hosted here, where should it be hosted? I'm still of the opinion that everything and anything Ultima related belongs here. I mean, we have 6 pages devoted to internal formats, and if that's not too much information, what is? Also, as for the size, I suspect the entire file won't be much larger than some of the large map files we have saved on this site. My ultimate intent is to have a small link from every Ultima VI NPC to the appropriate section of the transcript. Dungy 05:13, 2 January 2011 (PST)

How do you get the table of contents to hide certain subsection levels? TOC limit|limit=2 with double brackets is not working, and this page really needs to hide the NPC names in the table of contents. - Iceblade 00:44, 12 Feb. 2012 (EST)

Nevermind, found the how to, but I don't think it is implemented here and I don't think I have access to Mediawiki:Common.css Here's how to do it: [1] - Iceblade ten minutes later
I've added it to the Common.css. It doesn't help with this page much atm since we only have the one level of headers but the option is there for here and elsewhere. -- Fenyx4 09:26, 13 February 2012 (PST)
Sorry this was a fail on my part. I should have read more closely. This only allows you to limit what header levels are shown, not generate a collapsible table of contents. It could be useful for some pages in future, but does us no good for transcripts. Unfortunately, after some more digging, it would appear that the only way to implement a collapsible table of contents is adding java code to do so. Will look into this further and get back to you on it. - Iceblade
Heh, I was just coming back to say you should ignore my comment because this would come in handy for Ultima VI Transcript where the cities are headers. But I agree on the collapsible. I was just looking into that as well. I've already got some collapsible code for tables. (See NPC inofoboxes like Iolo) trying to see if I can get that working for the TOC. -- Fenyx4 09:33, 13 February 2012 (PST)

I think it might be best to not add question marks and exclamation marks to all the conversation keywords. They weren't a part of the original conversations, and we really don't know it what context the Avatar asked them anyway. Dungy 20:23, 29 June 2012 (PDT) Also, if you want to highlight keywords, make sure you're highlighting the correct text as in the original Ultima VI. Dungy 20:27, 29 June 2012 (PDT)

Agreed, I'd rather have these transcripts be as faithful to the original data as possible. There's no real reason for embellishments. --Terilem 20:35, 29 June 2012 (PDT)

I can't say I'm a fan of this compact layout with the NPC responses all jumbled together. I found it much easier to skim through the transcript the way it was formatted previously. The punctuation for keywords is also, once again, an issue. --Terilem 07:01, 5 July 2012 (PDT)

I removed the punctuation for keywords and removed a lot of the compression. It is compressed more than before though. Thoughts? -- Fenyx4 07:17, 5 July 2012 (PDT)
That's a bit of an improvement, Fenyx4. Maybe I'm being overprotective after spending tens of hours making this transcript, and I usually don't have a problem when other people edit my work, but I kind of like my original layout the best. I liked having the keywords stand out. Dungy 13:32, 5 July 2012 (PDT)
Maybe if the responses on following lines were tabbed out so they werent under the keywords? I dunno. i still like how they were better but was looking for a happy compromise. -- Fenyx4 14:36, 5 July 2012 (PDT)

Corrupted data[edit]

Using the very subtly crafted reg ex “[^\sa-zA-Z0-9!@#$%^&*()-_=+\[\]{}|;:'",./<>?]” I've been able to ferret out everything that isn't ASCII, which was showing up in weird places. I also found that text was sometimes in the wrong place. I was able to fix it most places I found it, but there are probably a ton of places where I didn't. So, any information we glean from this article needs to be authenticated w/U6Edit.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 12:22, 15 October 2024 (MDT)
