Talk:Pyramid
Naming of this and "Colored Planes"[edit]
I'm not sure about the naming of this article and Colored Planes. I'm not big on the wiki creating terms; I prefer they come from Origin text. Even less should we be creating proper nouns. I've done a text search in the Ultima Underworld II transcript and read the Ethereal Void section of Gems of Enlightenment and found the following:
- "Pyramid" is spoken of in several places, always as a common noun.
- "Pyramid" is also mentioned a few times in Gem of Enlightenment a couple of times as a proper noun and the rest common
- Looking for "colored" in the transcript makes 1 mention of what sounds like the Colored Planes: "colored realms" (as a common noun) in connection to the Ethereal Void. That sounds like the same thing
- The clue book makes various common noun mentions like "paths of different colors".
Unless there some other research to be added, I think that his article should be change to "Pyramid". I don't even think an attempt at disambiguation would be necessary since that term is pretty uncommon term around here. As for whether or not it should be proper, the clue book seems to indicate it should be proper, but it doesn't feel to me like the sort of thing that should be in this case.
As for Colored Planes, the content of the article seems important, I'm not sure how to present it. I think it should be renamed or maybe even merged into Ethereal Void. But that might be a bit ambitious, since that article isn't really set up to go into details about characteristics of the Void in different games. "Plane" might seem like a good description of their appearance, but it's confusing since "plane" is a word that is often used for a very different meaning in that game.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 15:58, 4 April 2023 (MDT)
- Another thing we could do w/Colored Planes is change the scope a bit to encompass the places where the player teleports. The article already covers them and calls them "zones". Looking further into Mokpo's(?) dialogue, it seems these are the places he calls the "colored realms".--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 06:01, 5 April 2023 (MDT)
