Talk:Potions
The Ultima VI images look strangely fuzzy. What went wrong there?--Tribun 11:45, 16 February 2013 (PST)
- Fuzzy? That is strange. What about know. Better? --Arthgon 13:36, 16 February 2013 (PST)
- I mean the potions look a bit unsharp, not as crisp as I would imagine. They look as if they got scaled with a graphics program.--Tribun 16:33, 16 February 2013 (PST)
Potion effect Purple in Ultima V/Black potion in UWII[edit]
1) I was wondering IF you actually got turned into a rat if you drink from a purple potion. I am actually not sure about that, but I could be wrong though. 2) Is there even a black potion in UWII? There is nothing about it in the actual cluebook and all. I am also not sure if I saw it while playing this game. --Arthgon 14:16, 21 February 2013 (PST)
- 1) Indeed you do. It's Rel Xen Bet in potion form.
- 2) I haven't played enough of Underworld II myself to know, but I searched the code for references to black potions and found multiple instances. They must be in there somewhere. --Terilem 01:04, 23 February 2013 (PST)
- 1) Ah. I was indeed wrong. I just wasn't that sure anymore.
- 2) There are references of black potions in the game? Ah. I think there's just a big chance that I kept on missing or overlooked this kind of potion as I played this game for many times. At this moment I am playing this game again, because 1) for the pictures for this forum (armour, equipment, items, weapons et al) and 2) I truly like this game. Of course. Thank you for answering my questions.
The truly strange part is, that there is NO mention of black potions in the UWII cluebook. --Arthgon 02:30, 23 February 2013 (PST)
Order of the Portions[edit]
Uhm, why was the order changed? The colors of the potions are meant to reflect those of the virtues, and thus had been in the correct order until the edit.--Tribun 09:04, 9 March 2013 (PST)
- Reflect of the virtues? OOOPSSS. I did not know that. Sorry. I did make it on Alphabatical order. Will change it back. Sorry. --Arthgon 09:33, 9 March 2013 (PST)
UPDATE: Fixed it. Now the article is much better looking than it was before. --Arthgon 10:22, 9 March 2013 (PST)
- I must admit I don't get the current sorting order at all. First of all, what do potions have to do with the virtues, and second, what is the logic behind the current order? If we want to sort them after the virtues, it should be blue, yellow, red, green, orange, purple, white and finally black. I want to reiterate though that I don't see why sorting them after the virtues is even on the table. --Warder Dragon (talk) 05:00, 2 April 2013 (PDT)
Potion.[edit]
While I was looking around inside of Ultima VII, I found this potion: It looks like that it is same kind of potion that was used in Ultima VII Part Two to give partial mana-boost. Anyone? --Arthgon (talk) 12:49, 1 April 2013 (PDT)
UWI?[edit]
The summary mentions UWI and the category is linked as well, but there's no section discussing it. Are they identical to UWII? The Ultra-Mind (talk) 17:03, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
Some headings might need another look[edit]
I cleaned up the tables; hopefully you'll agree that they are simpler, more compact and easier to read. I did play a little fast and loose w/the heading text though.
- I didn't think "Potion" said very much, since those columns are just a word that is the name of a colour (or mixture of), so I changed it to "Color" but I also added "description" assuming that there's some kind of text description that appears to the player in all games.
- I also felt "Appearance" was better than "Image" for the thumbnails.

Are potions magic or medical?[edit]
What do we know about the nature of potions? Out-game, we usually think of potions being magic, while we use the word "medicine" for what's natural, but I'm not aware any Ultima-based material that says it one way or the other.
Whoever finds the answer might want to do a bit of cleanup to Light (concept)#Light Sources.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 18:52, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
