Talk:Killing Lord British
Ultima IV Method[edit]
I tried the Ultima IV method of killing him with energy fields to no avail. I had one character eat through 6 thousand food while LB sat trapped inside lightning fields standing on fire and poison fields. There was no sign of LB taking any damage. I'll continue but I think my character might starve first.
It appears these methods came from here. I'm also questioning the Ultima 5 one but that one is going to be hard to test. -- Fenyx4 06:18, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I also tried killing him with the Skull of Mondain and it didn't work either (both in and out of combat). I did all this on the PC version. If anyone has other ports to test on that'd be great. -- Fenyx4 06:24, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Also mentioned on an old version of LB's wikipedia page. -- Fenyx4 06:33, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- You know, I questioned this method, too. I recalled trying EVERYTHING to kill LB in IV back in the day, and nothing worked then, either. Maybe on one of the random odd ports it's possible, but not the PC or Apple versions. --Polygoncount 06:35, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Another even older version is doing precisely what I am doing but claims it worked. I traced the original source on wikipedia and it was an anonymous user. I did try the tremor thing mentioned and it does cause him to flee (but that isn't the same as killing).
- On a side note I just found a bug I don't think I've encountered before. I killed a guard in Castle Britannia and accidentally attacked the treasure chest he dropped. I ended up in a fight with a Phantom whose icon flashed between a chest and an ankh. -- Fenyx4 06:54, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that's a bug. I used to do that back in the day (on the Amiga version) when I needed xp more than gold. It's very inefficient, but I was just a kid back then and didn't know any better! --Warder Dragon 11:12, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
Ultima V Time Limit[edit]
Both in this article and elsewhere in the Internet, I've seen references to a time limit in Ultima V. However, I haven't seen any proof of this. Does anyone has some sort of proof? Or is it a myth?--Sega381 14:12, 14 January 2012 (PST)
- I know it's possible since I saw a screenshot, but I can't find it again. However, it has to be somwhere in the data files (good luck finding someone who can dig in them)--Tribun 14:21, 14 January 2012 (PST)
- Thanks! It may not be easy to find, then. Any idea on what that limit was? I think that if the limit existed, it would make this the only Ultima with a time limit, right? --Sega381 11:17, 15 January 2012 (PST)
- According to Richard Garriott on Twitter it is just a myth. Lord British will wait forever. https://mobile.twitter.com/RichardGarriott/status/764035394954403840?p=v Also, did not Lord British moved the Avatar to the surface if you don't have the Box? --Arthgon (talk) 22:28, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

- When I said not having the box with me, even though I had, British replied something like:" I see. Well, make yourself comfortable. I think we'll staying here for a while." Then you become stuck there. Characters began walking on their own. It's been a long time since I saw that conclusion so can't remember every little detail. --Time Lord 05:35, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Saw this on YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sy6XHOpFO4Q. Well, to be honest, it has been years ago on the C64 that I have done that to see what happens. That's why my memory is what hazy. Sorry. Ninja Edit: There is also a good chance that I confuse it with U4, where you will be send back to the surface if you got one answer wrong in the Abyss and all. --Arthgon (talk) 09:00, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

- I checked the files as best I could, but couldn't find anything to that effect. --Kahran042 (talk) 13:55, 6 March 2018 (MST)
Ultima VI[edit]
I have a method for Ultima VI which is not listed here, but works only in early versions of the game. I'd like to produce a detailed description and a screen shot but unfortunately my original copy of the game is on another continent, and the only version I currently have access to (4.5) is much too recent. If anyone happens to have an earlier version (as reported by pressing Ctrl+V in the game), could they please let me know? —Psychonaut 12:22, 11 April 2012 (PDT)
Ultima Underworld II[edit]
I have to dispute this latest edit, on the following grounds:
- All it does is speculate that LB would be killed and openly admits that this is not able to be observed.
- It has been previously demonstrated that LB survives Armageddon, which I feel directly contradicts said speculation. --Terilem 20:01, 8 June 2012 (PDT)
Full Rewrite[edit]
There's still a lot of missing information around killing Lord British. To try to gather information on how and if you can kill him in all the ports of all the games I've made a spreadsheet. Would love some more help in working on it! Once it is further along I (or others) can rewrite the article with the info. -- Fenyx4 14:22, 6 January 2022 (MST)
- There have been some updates at the Fandom Heresy. Maybe we should poach them.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:00, 28 July 2022 (MDT)
