Problems understanding[edit]
...and therefore I couldn't rehabilitate some of the material. Many were just a matter of using the {{clarify}} template, but others require more in-depth discussion.
- I've cleanup things that I think are wrong or in some other way unsuitable for articles. But this leads me to believe that there could be a lot of other misinformation in these stat articles and some fact-checking is in order.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:15, 26 August 2025 (MDT)
Ultima II[edit]
I found the math very confusing here:
- What do the indices of the Fibonacci series represent?
- What do the members of the Fibonacci series represent?
- What's "scalar movement"?
- It seems the independent variables in the table are Charisma and Intelligence and they determine the scalar movement.
- I don't understand the meaning of the other 2 columns either.
- I've commented it out, since I don't think we can rehabilitate it any time soon.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:15, 26 August 2025 (MDT)
Ultima IV[edit]
I was quite certain that maximum mana was fixed: mages always had 99, bards and tinkers had 25, shepherds and fighters got none, others had 50s and 75s distributed among them... (thus the over-generalized "magic ability" in Template:Infobox/Profession.) I'm also wondering why the table gives percentages over 100. --The Ultra-Mind (talk) 14:53, 19 August 2025 (MDT)
- Considering all misleading and incorrect information I've seen so far, I'm going to assume that this is wrong or maybe limited to a console version or whatever.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:15, 26 August 2025 (MDT)
- I just checked it in-game and you deletion-spree was plain wrong. Characters do not have fixed mana, the mana is indeed determined by the multiplicators! A Bard with 31 INT can only have a maximum of 31 mana since multiplicator x1.0, while a druid with 20 INT does have a maximum of 30 mana due to multiplicator x1.5. So what you deleted was actually completely correct. Where did your confusion come from? A little playtesting would have been enough, even with a freshly created character.--Tribun (talk) 14:21, 27 August 2025 (MDT)
- I repaired it and also made sure the tables for Ultima V and VI are more informative about the maximum possible mana.--Tribun (talk) 05:55, 28 August 2025 (MDT)
- Maybe I'm getting old, but I could have sworn that everyone always had maximum MP for their classes, those 40 years ago. So between my memory, and a lot of the other misinformation I've been wading through...
- But what what you've got there now is an improvement over what was there a month ago.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 12:56, 28 August 2025 (MDT)
