Sylaina Moorehead is a seamstress at Empath Abbey in Ultima VI.
Description[edit]
The former wife of the feared pirate Nathaniel Moorehead, Sylaina was a simple woman who lived alone in a small cottage along the beach, surviving off of her work as a seamstress and what she could collect from the ocean. Sylaina told the Avatar that she was left with little money after her husband was lost at sea, and the only thing she had to remember him by was a golden locket wrapped in a piece of an old ship's chart, a piece of the treasure map of Hawkins. Her husband had told her that the map and locket would make her rich, but she was no longer in possession of either because they were stolen by the roving gypsy band led by Arturos.[1]

In The Ultima 6 Project, the Avatar could talk longer about Sylaina's late husband's past. Sylaina mentioned her late husband's buddies Dagan, Bast and Sy. She suspected all three of them to be connected to her husband's past and found it a bit puzzling that the three of them suddenly had found the urge to form a militia group to protect the area around Yew. This would prove to be a hint to investigate into the activities of these three men.

- Sylaina is based upon an Amtgard player who assumed the persona of Sylaina Greenwood in the organization's former Grand Duchy of Barad Duin, where Ultima VI writer Dr. Cat and artist-writer Manda Dee (Penumbra) also participated and, like Richard Garriott with the Society for Creative Anachronism, portrayed many of its members as characters within the game. In Amtgard, Sylaina was consort to Barad Duin's first monarch, Duke Ahrmaand, later becoming ruler herself in the early years of the realm's reformation as a chapter of the offshoot High Fantasy Society. During her reign, Ard-Rian (Grand Duchess) Sylaina was served as regent by Barad Duin's second monarch, Sionnach O'Ros Sidh, and bestowed a knighthood upon its third, Derydlus Greystone.[2]
