Stivius is a wine merchant in Skara Brae in Ultima VI.
Description[edit]
The husband of Dezana the healer, Stivius was a strange man who produced wine on the island of Skara Brae. He did not like Trenton, for the man always tried to get him to sell his wine cheaper. Stivius only briefly talked about the other inhabitants of the hamlet. Gideon jokingly suggested he may have been sampling too much of his own wares.[1]
Stivius claimed he saw a number of Gargoyles kill Quenton, but on further interrogation there were numerous inconsistencies in he tale. The wine merchant stated that as he was walking home he saw a dozen forms surrounding Quenton's corpse, but admitted it may have been as few as two or three, as he immediately ran upon sensing danger. He further professed to seeing large snarling beasts speaking in a strange language, but they were kneeling, so they looked smaller. Stivius’ confusing and fanciful description of Quenton's murder did little to help the Avatar uncover the true nature of the crime.[2]
Ultima 6 Project[edit]
This is an Ultima 6 Project-related NPC article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima VI or other Ultima games.
In The Ultima 6 Project, Stivius was willing to sell the Avatar locally produced wines, as well as cheeses and other delicacies. He would purchase Abbey Red Wine and Abbey Dry Wine for 220 gold apiece.
Lore[edit]
“ | If you ask me, Stivius has done a lot more for the place — he’s the one who put the "spirit" in "spirituality." He let me tour his wine cellar once — surely the best stocked in all Britannia! It was a meaningful experience, I can tell you... – from The Book of Prophecy (Ultima VI)
