Species: gargoyle
Appearances
Ultima VII
Location: Terfin

Silamo is a wingless gargoyle working as the gardener in Terfin during Ultima VII.

Description[edit]

Forbrak would mention that Silamo had long been a malcontent and that he had recently become surly and aggressive. Silamo appeared to the hero as a deeply troubled individual, who chafed under his race's caste system which drew such stark divisions between the winged and wingless. Reserved and not overly talkative, Silamo would admit that he felt looked down upon in Gargish society, and that he envied the acceptance that the also wingless Quaeven had found in the Fellowship. While he was still an adherent of traditional Gargish virtues, seeing his caste-mate so exulted by the philosophical society had given him pause, and he was seriously considering joining him in the Fellowship's ranks.[1][2]

Lore[edit]

While in Terfin, thou mayest note how well-kept the flora is. Belying the fact that we humans once considered Gargoyles evil and daemonic, the gardener, Silamo, does an excellent job of maintaining the flowers and plants.

Trivia[edit]

  • Silamo translates roughly to "Loves Stars" or perhaps "Omen of Love" in Gargish. Silamo, himself, does not know the meaning of his name, owing, he claims, to his wingless status.[3]
  • In the SNES-port of Ultima VII, it is Silamo who tells the Avatar that it might be wise to search Sarpling's shop while inquiring into the plot to destroy the Pedestals of the Principles, given his access to explosives.[4]
