Salamon is an elderly emp living in her people's woodland village during Ultima VII.
Description[edit]
Salamon appeared to have a place of primacy amongst the emps, having lived a long time and being wise in the ways of humans. Once the Avatar approached her people with gifts of honey, the wizened female would speak about Empish customs, describing how the pacifist society abhored killing, to the point that they forwent all meat products in their diet.[1]
After the hero spoke with Trellek and learned that the young emp was willing to help locate the enigmatic wisps, the Avatar was required to consult with Trellek's mate, Saralek, before they could depart. Saralek, in turn, told the hero to ask permission from Salamon, thinking that the elder would never grant it.[2][3]
Salamon, however, would approve of Trellek's leave taking, provided the Avatar complete a mission to acquire the signature of the logger, Ben, on a contract banning him from harvesting silverleaf trees, where the emps made their nests. Once this was completed, the graying emp would give her blessing to the would-be traveler, although ultimately Saralek would prevent him from accompanying the Avatar anyway.[4]

Trivia[edit]
- In the SNES-port of Ultima VII, Salamon does not instruct the Avatar to speak with Ben regarding silverleaf logging. Instead, the peril which threatens the emps is human pollution of the Deep Forest, which has negatively impacted the birth rate of their species.[5]
