Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

The melancholy innkeeper told the hero that he had little work to do since the archmage Flain moved to Skara Brae, and felt he could not blame those who chose to stay away from his establishment. With his reduced earnings, he was only able to employ Tamethe, who helped bring in much of the tavern's earnings with her fine cooking.[1]

Since coming to the island, Flain had not left his dark tower for food, no any other supplies, and none knew what transpired within its walls. Rogi felt it was for fear of getting lynched by the angry townsfolk, regaling how when Flain had first arrived on their shores, a full force of rangers and citizens had stood on the shores to denounce the Oppression and Blackthorn, and had tried to prevent Flain and his lackeys from landing and taking custody of Hassad. Despite their superior numbers, the townsfolk were defeated by Flain's dark magic. Many were killed, and those who survived fled to Spiritwood to continue opposing Blackthorn's rule.

If asked about his habit of touching his ankh, Rogi mentioned it was customary in Skara Brae for citizens to do this as a sign of greeting or when saying farewell.
