Nolant was a traitor to the Knights of the Crux Ansata and he died before the events of Ultima Underworld.

Description[edit]

On the fifth level of the Abyss, the Avatar found one grave that was far away from the others and warning signs cautioned not to enter due to unrestful dead. This was a grave of shame for Nolant, formerly Sir. Once being a Knight of the Crux Ansata, he was stripped of his title after the cold-blooded murder of a young man called Endicott. It is unknown if he also was executed for said crime, but he ended up in this grave of shame.

That the man even in death was seriously dangerous was proven when his shade locked the Avatar in before attacking. Thus the Avatar was forced to destroy his shade forever.

Lore[edit]

Herein lies Nolant, formerly Sir, stripped of his title. He strayed from the path of virtue by murdering the young Endicott in cold blood.

Trivia[edit]

  • It is assumed that Nolant was one of the Knights of the Crux Ansata although no character or other evidence directly says this.
  • Upon entering the antechamber to Nolant's tomb a secure portcullis will slam shut. The switch to open this portcullis is not reachable from within, even with a pole or telekinesis spell. The portcullis is locked and cannot be unlocked with a lockpick or an open spell.
  • The door to Nolant's tomb is also locked and unopenable by either lockpick or open spell.
  • The key for both these doors is held by the hostile dire shade tha appears in the area. The shade must be killed to obtain the key to exit the area. However, other methods such as gate travel or the silver sapling are still available.
  • The dire shade in the tomb is assummed to be that of Nolant but there is no direct evidence to support this.
  • Raiding Nolant's tomb is worth it, as it contains one of only two TYM rune stones in the entire game.
