Maklen is the harbormaster at the Palace of Blackthorn in Ultima V: Lazarus.
Should the Avatar approach Maklen without wearing the Black Badge, the sailor would demand a 250 gp docking fee, failure of which to pay would cause Maklen to immediately attack the hero. The harbormaster told the hero that he was responsible for providing all the supplies for the Oppression's blockade of Serpent's Hold, a task which kept him busy almost constantly. He felt Lord British had been a high minded fool for messing with things he didn't understand, digging up the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom instead of leaving it buried beneath the Abyss. On the other hand, he felt Lord Blackthorn had actually rode out to try to counter the evils which had been unleashed upon Britannia instead of just wringing his hands within is castle, feeling the new liege would soon crush the Resistance.[1]
