Kilandra is a fisherwoman living in the wilds east of Tenebrae. She appears in Ultima VIII.
Description[edit]
Kilandra had once been mother to a young girl named Elaina, whom she had loved dearly. When the child fell victim to an illness which left her near death, she took her daughter to Tenebrae, hoping that Lady Mordea could cure her in the absence of a theurgist. When she arrived at the palace, she was dismissed by Seneshcal Salkind, who informed her that the Tempest was busy with her bath and would not see anyone. Elaina died shortly after, and Kilandra went mad with grief, becoming an isolated recluse who claimed she held council with the fish of the Sea of Rains.
Should the Avatar learn of her connection to the ghost of the nearby valley from Gwillim,[1] the hero could ask about the legend, and Kilandra would reveal that her daughter held the key to the locked door which barred the way to the ghost's domicile. Going to the cemetery, the Avatar could retrieve the key from Elaina's grave.[2]

Trivia[edit]
- Orlok has a number of false stories he will tell regarding Kilandra. He will claim that her madness is a result of her attempt to profane the Pit of Death, that she is Lady Mordea's exiled mother, or even that she is an agent for local groups of trolls seeking to raid Tenebrae.[3]
