Kati
Kati [カティ] is a ten-year-old shepherd who features in Yoko Tanaka's 1989 Ultima-inspired manga, Ultima: The Quest of the Avatar. He replaces the character of Katrina from the original Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
Kati was an orphan shepherd boy living near Empath Abbey. He first encountered Deane and Io after their meeting with Brother Antos, attempting to sell the teenagers a viable silver serpent egg for an inflated sum of money. A source of both comic relief and worry amongst the group, Kati's safety often became an issue of concern, especially after he suffered near fatal wounds in a battle with a hydra.[1] Chipper and self-important, he often appeared in the background of otherwise serious scenes, making comedic remarks to lighten the flow of the story.
In spite of protestations that he was too young to join in the adventure, Kati clung to the party – and eventually proved himself useful when the grown silver serpent hatchling, Silver, saved the group from a sinking ship. The boy also inadvertently discovered the hidden chamber which contained the Skull of Mondain.
