Kador is a male dog who, although predominantly exhibiting typical canine behaviors, is seemingly capable of human speech and profound thought. He appears in Ultima VI, roaming mainland Britannia in the company of self-proclaimed gypsy king Zoltan and his daughter Karina, the mystic Taynith, and the juggler Blaine. Inseparable from his nomadic owners, Kador can be found at their side variously in Britain, Minoc, Paws, Trinsic, and Yew.
Description[edit]
Kador was a shaggy, amicable dog who could entertain the Avatar with a number of tricks, including sitting, playing dead, and fetching sticks. He carried a bowl to collect coins, and would appear pleased if the Avatar donated accordingly for his effort. If not rewarded for these acts, Kador would become dejected and the other gypsies of Zoltan's band would refuse to speak with the hero until the slight was rectified.[1]
Kador would reveal his most extraordinary talent, however, if the Avatar asked him for "advice", or simply to "speak", upon which the dog would reply, "I feel that the whole debate over 'free will' versus 'determinism' arises from an artificial semantic division. In light of the works of Godel and Heisenberg, it is evident that the two concepts are indistinguishable and thus, for all practical purposes, identical."[2]
After delivering this fleetingly articulate insight, Kador would revert to his usual vocalizations and respond simply by barking if the Avatar repeated the request.
Runes of Virtue[edit]
Kador would again demonstrate his sharp canine intellect in Runes of Virtue, where he offered the hero significant clues in solving the puzzles within the dungeons of Britannia.

In The Ultima 6 Project, Kador would further warn the hero to avoid Arturos and his band of gypsies.
