Trivia[edit]
- In reality, John and Geraldine "Gerry" Mayer were a married couple who part-owned the ComputerLand store where Ultima creator Richard Garriott was not only employed while coding Akalabeth, but encouraged by the Mayers to sell his self-published first copies of the game. A mathematician, Geraldine first worked as a post-World War II "human computer" and flight researcher for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), before she and her husband entered the nascent home computer industry in the late 1970s. Geraldine Mayer died in 2011.[2][3][4]
