Evidious is a very capricious man from Ultima IX. Feeling the motivation to be virtuous he immersed himself into the delusion that just because he looks a lot like the Avatar, he could be like the hero of legend as well. Unfortunately, his efforts to perform good deeds for people would cause upset for others.
Description[edit]
The real Avatar first met him just outside Britain’s east gate. The imposter spouted how much he looked up to the Avatar, but most of it was just gibberish, so the Avatar paid him little notice. Later, after returning from meeting the Guardian on Terfin, Dara suddenly accused the Avatar of not paying in the tavern and Angus told the Avatar about wild night of drinking he had with him. Even Farmer Bob accused the Avatar of stealing his goat. The Avatar felt that this was Evidious' doing, so searching for him, he was found east of Britain after a hint from Orson.[1]
Evidious played innocent and explained that he only wanted to do good, but the Avatar made it clear that he had totally failed and instead damaged the hero’s reputation. The Avatar convinced Evidious to instead try to be himself, and to follow the Eight Virtues in his own way. That done, the Avatar returned to Britain, to try to undo some of the damage caused to the Champion of Virtue’s reputation.
Trivia[edit]
- An unreachable part of Evidious’ dialogue gives the Avatar the opportunity to recommend suicide to the distraught man. This option does not appear in the release version of the game.
