Derek is a knight of the Knights of the Crux Ansata, who has specialised on working with gems. He appears in Ultima Underworld. He knows the location of the Ring of Humility.

Meeting him on the fourth level of the Abyss, Derek revealed that he was less a man of adventure and more of his craft. He complained to the Avatar how he had no good tool to cut his gems. The hero thus gave him the gem cutter received from Goldthirst. Derek was impressed at such humility to give away such a treasure, at first he tried to decline until the Avatar insisted on giving it to him, and revealed to the Avatar how to get the Ring of Humility on the fifth level.
Later, he was rescued by Garamon when the volcano erupted.

Here, you might find Derek. I would never inflict his presence on you, Malabelle, save that I know your love of jewelry. Derek is said to be in need of a good gem cutter. Should you have one to give him, he might craft jewelry for you, or direct you to the resting-place of Cabirus‘ Ring of Humility, which I think would most marvelously grace your finger.
