De Maria is a bard who frequents The Emerald in Cove.
Description[edit]
De Maria was among the few Britannians of the age to immediately recognize the Avatar on sight, having sung many a ballad about the hero in the past. Flamboyant and outspoken, the bard was quick to regale the hero with the tragic tale of Nastassia and her dead mother, Nadia - and would implore the adventurer to assist in helping the woe-stricken girl in overcoming her sorrow.[1]
If the Avatar learned of his romance with Zinaida from Lord Heather, De Maria would expound upon his passions in flowery words at the mention of her name, drawing smiling protestations from the tavernkeeper if she was present at the time.[2]
Lore[edit]
“ | Actually, asking De Maria, our resident bard, to sing thee a song might best demonstrate our feelings. Then again, his favorite song is about poor Nastassia, the only person in Cove without a lover. – from Key to the Black Gate (Ultima VII)
