Zinaida is an attractive woman in her forties, who owns and operates The Emerald.
Description[edit]
Should the Avatar have approached her, Zinaida would provide the hero with a warm welcome and friendly service. Like many restaurateurs of the age, she recommended the newly concocted silverleaf meal, insinuating that the tree root used to prepare it was rumored to serve as an aphrodisiac. She further would caution the adventurer's company not to drink the water from the nearby Lock Lake, as it had been polluted severely by the runoff from the Minoc branch of the Britannian Mining Company.[1]
If the Avatar learned of her romance with De Maria from Lord Heather, she would go on to praise the colorful bard when asked about him, reporting there to be no better man in existence.[2]
Lore[edit]
“ | Well, no, romance is nor the sale topic of conversation here in Cove. We do have a problem or two, but what city doesn't? Just ask Zinaida. She will be more than happy to discuss our less than satisfactory water supply. – from Key to the Black Gate (Ultima VII)

Trivia[edit]
- A "Zinaida Likhitovna Umanskaya" appears on various sites as a previous member of the Society for Creative Anachronism's barony of Bryn Gwlad – where Richard Garriott has been known to participate in his persona of Shamino Sallé Dacil. The person adopting this persona bears a resemblance to the portrait of Zinaida in the game, and may have been the inspiration for the character.[3]
