Casperin is a small ghost who haunts the ruins of Magincia during Ultima IV
Description[edit]
The diminutive spirit haunted the gutted remnants of a shop, and would ask the Stranger how it had been brought to such a state. Should the hero correctly guess "Pride" the ghost would declare the baleful "virtue" the surest measure of unattained goals, recommending that the Stranger seek out the mantra of Humility from Heywood, one of its companions in suffering.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Casperin can be identified with the ghost in the same location. It claims that the people of Magincia once believed Pride to be a virtue, and laments as to how death now exults in their folly.[2]
- Casperin has a name and stature similar to the popular cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost.
