Beyvin was the husband of Penumbra, and the former keeper of the rune of Honesty in Moonglow, having been entrusted the rune by Lord Aganar.[1]
Description[edit]
Beyvin had died prior to the beginning of Ultima VI, and the rune was buried with him deep within the Moonglow catacombs. The exact details of his death are never elucidated, yet Mandrake explained that Beyvin died of an allergic reaction to a short piece of steel that somehow founds its way between his ribs.[2] Also, Penumbra suggested Beyvin had been overly honest, expressing his opinion to people who did not appreciate it.[3] The hero must ask Beyvin's cousin Manrel for the key to Beyvin's tomb, for the promise of delivering some flowers to the grave.[4]
The Avatar did so and found the rune in Beyvin's remains.
Lore[edit]
“ | There's a chap named Beyvin I used to play Poker with - poor fellow was too honest to bluff! He was a decent sort, but he passed away last year under rather unfortunate circumstances... Seems he had an allergic reaction to a short piece of steel that somehow found its way between his ribs. Aganar, the so-called mayor of Moonglow, hasn't even noticed Beyvin is dead yet. He pretty much lets the town take care of itself, which suits me fine, and he's a regular at the tavern, too.
Anyhow, Beyvin's got a nice crypt in the secret catacombs under the tavern. – from The Book of Prophecy (Ultima VI)
