Bane is a destitute prisoner in Destard in Ultima IX.

The Avatar met Bane chained to the walls of dungeon Destard by Dartane of the Wyrmguard, left to die from starvation and eaten by giant rats. Bane explained how he had been held in captivity for many years to work the mines of Destard, supplying gems for the dragon Talornia. He had grown too old for work, and been left to his fate. The Avatar could choose to rescue Bane upon hearing his cries of torment, opting to unchain him from his captivity.[1]
