Anya is the proprietor of the Blue Boar Tavern in Britain in Ultima VI.
Description[edit]
Mother of the young musician Ariana and the wife of the deaf cook Matt, Anya was content with running the Blue Boar Tavern, and used what little she could save from her business to help support her daughter's music lessons. She was extremely proud of her daughter's progress at the Conservatory. Ariana required her mother's permission before giving the hero the rune of Compassion, and Anya immediately consented when asked about it. Anya was mildly knowledgeable of the comings and goings of the gypsies who frequented Britain, noting how they often traveled the King's Way towards Trinsic. Her only regret in life was Matt's deafness which he had acquired as a child, and implored the Avatar to somehow restore his hearing so that he might someday hear his daughter's music.[1]
The Ultima 6 Project[edit]
This is an Ultima 6 Project-related NPC article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima VI or other Ultima games.
In The Ultima 6 Project, Anya required wild mushrooms for her cooking at the Blue Boar. She would pay the hero one gold for Button mushrooms, and two gold apiece for fly agaric and suillus pictus.
After being told by Anya to find a way to cure Matt, the Avatar set sail for Marsor's Isle, where the evil mage Lorcan resided. As learned in Lorcan's journal, he had accidentally created a spell to cure deafness and threw it out in annoyance. The Avatar found the spell in a pile of bodies behind the house and after giving Anya the good news, who told the Avatar to use it right away. The hero used it on Matt to restore his hearing. Anya thanked the hero profusely for this good deed.
Lore[edit]
“ | Between holidays I find the Blue Boar Tavern quite servicable, [sic] though it’s nothing exceptional. Poor Anya is always looking for some miracle cure for her husband... If she mentions it, best not to get her hopes up. – from The Book of Prophecy (Ultima VI)
