Amoranth is the leader of the Brotherhood of the Rose during Ultima IX.

Description[edit]

Amoranth headed the operations of the brotherhood at the Cathedral of love in Britain, which had been established as the monks' headquarters following the destruction of Empath Abbey. Should the Avatar speak to him, he would tell the hero of the how all three keeps of the principles had all fallen over the two decades, and would mention the lamentable loss of the Candle of Love which had been placed in his orders' care.

If the Avatar encountered Amoranth before the Shrine of Compassion was cleansed, the hero would find that he was a proponent of Mayor Aidon's cruel measures to exile the sick and poor to Paws, and that he would (like Aidon) attempt to justify the removal of the city's destitute by claiming that it was a compassionate move designed to make it easier to allocate charitable gifts to those in need. Later, once the Avatar had restored the shrine, Amoranth would repent his past attitudes, and would thank the hero for having shown the people of Britain the true meaning of Compassion.[1]

Trivia[edit]

  • Amoranth was originally to have had a much greater role in the plot of Ultima IX. According to the Bob White Plot, Amoranth was to have been a major political leader in Britannia, who would have had charge of an army and would have frequently clashed with the heads of other major factions.
