Ambrose is a frail fighter recuperating at Sanctuary, the healer's house, in Cove during the events of Ultima V. He awakens only for a short period after 11 P.M.
Description[edit]
Ambrose told the Avatar of the great battle he was in while searching for the Mystic Weapons and Mystic Armour within dungeon Hythloth. He indicated that past the lava north of the underground entrance is where the Mystic Arms and Armour are said to lie and that the Mystic Weapons are only effective near great evil and only the Mystic Armour protected in these places.[1]

Riddled with illness from his encounters keep in the Underworld beneath Britannia, Ambrose barely clung to life with the assistance of Jessica the healer. He told the Avatar that he had sought the Mystic Weapons and Armour deep beneath the Great Stygian Abyss, which he reached via the dungeon Hythloth, and he speculated upon the rumors that circulated as to why the great weapons had been left in such a desolate location. He told the hero how he had acquired the Word of Power from a member of the Great Council, but he would not reveal the member's name or the word, and had hired a pirate crew to ferry him to the Isle of the Avatar. There, he entered the dungeon, and had reached the Underworld, only to be attacked by a horde of mongbats within sight of the weapons. Barely managing to escape with his life, Ambrose had resealed the dungeon when he returned to the surface. He tasked the hero with finding the weapons, and seeking the fate of Lord British.[2]
