Black Weep

The Black Weep, often called just The Weep, is a mysterious plague infecting Britannia. Due to its deadly nature and mystical nature, Lady British has asked Mariah to summon people from Earth to combat the infection.

Symptoms

Initial infection causes cold-like symptoms, but soon the virulent toxins begin to rot the person internally. Death follows quickly, but even then the victim is not safe, as their bodies rise again, becoming undead headless monsters. Fortunately for our heroes, Earth-born humans are immune to the plague.

In animals, the Weep Infected are subject to rapid mutation. Most often, they grow much larger and more powerful. Their bite and spittle becomes toxic.

Flora is not immune to Weep either, becoming vine-like and rotted. The largest become Weep Tentacles, capable to writhing into homes and across the land, spreading the infection. Weep Spores grow, producing Slimes to slay those nearby.

Cause

The plague is actually a daemonic soul infection, released by unknown agents somewhere in the Stygian Abyss. Their goals and methods are the subject of much of the plot of Ultima Forever.
