Does this qualify as Ultima fan game?[edit]

It has:

  • a look taken from some Ultima games
  • a storyline that sounds like a subgenre of Worlds of Ultima

but I think to qualify it should be borrowing some things more concrete: proper nouns, characters to any other kind of element original to Ultima.

Same w/these:

Have you played any of them? Minima has different locations but shares most of the same monsters and features straight-out Ultima music. It has lots of little nods to various Ultima games buried in the details, from remote shrines to talking ankhs. Its docs identify it as an Ultima homage. Anteform is slightly more removed and is like you said more akin to the Worlds of Ultima games than the main line Ultima games. I've not played Haxima.

All three video games Ultima-like games made by Ultima fans heavily inspired by Ultima and mention Ultima in their descriptions. The tabletop RPG is made to be the Ultima setting. They all seem like Ultima fan games to me. -- Fenyx4 15:47, 1 December 2021 (MST)
Re-reading your criteria, Ultra-mind, I think I see why our opinions differ. You want them to be actual full fledged Ultima video games whereas my criteria is Ultima-like games, inspired by Ultima and made by fans. -- Fenyx4 22:15, 1 December 2021 (MST)

I haven't played them. All I know about them is what I've read in the articles, plus a few screenshots I found.

If these games qualify as belonging to the Ultima fan universe, I think the articles need to be edited to make it more apparent.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 08:28, 2 December 2021 (MST)

In relation to The Siege Perilous - tabletop RPG, from my reading of the available materials (as referenced from the authors website) I think it fair to say the game is an 'Ultima' game. The nominal settings (Lands of Lord British, Paws, Yew, Fawn etc are all present), monsters, npcs (Mondain, Lord British etc), overview of timeline (Age of Darkness), spells, items etc. It's obviously not a computer game, but to my understanding that is not required criteria (though I could be wrong).

I have added some content to the page which hopefully expands on improving it's relevance as an Ultima fan game. --Kadmos Dragon 22:15, 4 January 2023

Agreed. Borrowing all those names makes it an Ultima fan game, even if not canonical. I think I speak for all the veteran editors when I say it doesn't matter that it doesn't matter that it isn't a computer game.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 09:59, 5 January 2023 (MST)
